Toursim Indaba 2013

Being a newbie to the Tourism industry I recently attended my second Tourism Indaba and I thought I'd share a few snap shots. But for those of you who don't know what I'm on about let me give you a short overview. The Tourism Indaba is an annual event held in Durban in May hosted by South African Tourism. The Indaba is the biggest tourism trade show on the African continent and one of the top three internationally, bringing together product, destinations and potential buyers from all over the world.  Exhibitors are split between the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) and the Durban Exhibition Centre(DEC) as well as many outside exhibitors linking the two centre's.

The Eastern Cape was  definitely not short of representation with most of the District and Local Municipalities present bringing along some of the local product owners.

South Africa's Heritage & Cultural Pavilion grabbed my attention with it's chalk drawings and captivated me with it's showcase of some of the country's top heritage and cultural attractions.

However sadly I found the overall energy levels not as high as the previous year which seemed to be the opinion of most whom have attended many Indaba's. The general consensus amongst the stand holders was that the cost for a stand was too high for product holders leaving many tour operators disappointed with the lack of product on display.
